Good Eats: Boujie Biscuit – Louisville, KY

Reading Time: 3 minutes

I’m back in Houston! Despite all my pre-flight anxiety, traveling home wasn’t nearly as stressful as I thought it would be. I am currently self-quarantining which gives me the chance to wrap up my Louisville food diary post. I almost lumped this post into that one, but the food at Boujie Biscuit was so good that I wanted to highlight this Clifton neighborhood gem on its own.

Locals and regulars seemed to know something we didn’t: order ahead. We waited a while for our food, but ordering when we arrived allowed me to get personal recommendations and learn more about Boujie Biscuits’ background story directly from Cyndni Joyner, the Boujie Biscuit’s mastermind.

A Brooklyn-native, Cyndi’s culinary journey took her from the culture-rich boroughs of New York, to her travels abroad in Europe, then back state-side. During her time in Mount Vernon, Utah, Joyner longed for those familiar culinary adventures and decided to create them herself. Her idea grew from a food delivery service to her first restaurant, Build-a-Biscuit. A few years later with a name change and a new city to boot, Boujie Biscuit was born. While the menu is complex, Boujie Biscuit ‘s premise is simple: the perfect meal served on a square buttermilk biscuit.

Savory Biscuits

The Savory Biscuits at Boujie Biscuit are essentially dinner on biscuit. Choose from popular options like Chicken Pot Pit or The Farmhouse – a spinach & tomato frittata under sausage gravy and bacon with Boujie Biscuits’ famous 3-cheese.

The Cluckin’ Hot Biscuit

I demolished this biscuit! There’s delicious chicken breast chunks tossed in a spicy sauce topped with their Juicy, chicken breast chunks in a seasoned, spicy sauce, topped with the special 3-cheese sauce, crispy bacon pieces and pickle slices between a buttermilk biscuit.

The Jamaican Curry Cheeseburger

The classic Boujie Bicuit takes a trip to the Caribbean! The the Jamaican curry spiced biscuit is topped with seasoned ground Angus beef and that uber-good cheese sauce.

Sweet Biscuits

If savory breakfast isn’t your thing, then the Sweet section of the Boujie Biscuit’s menu might be more your speed. Popular sweet biscuits include The Georgia Peach – warm, sweet peaches served in a a buttery, brown sugar sauce on a buttermilk biscuit – and The Maple Bacon Biscuit.

The Maple Bacon Biscuit

The Maple Bacon Boujie Biscuit features a generous portion of crispy bacon pieces doused with a sweet honey maple butter and honey and maple syrup served between… you guessed it… a buttermilk biscuit!

Final Thoughts on Boujie Biscuits

I’m more of a savory brunch gal, so I preferred the Savory Biscuits, but the Sweet Biscuits would be a good treat to share. Boujie Biscuit is single-handedly the best and most unique restaurant I visited during my first Louisville stay. It was so good that I absolutely plan to visit every single time I return to the city. If you find yourself in Louisville, get your biscuit fix at Boujie Biscuit.

July’s consistency challenge is over, but I’m looking forward to posting all things travel, food and art. Don’t want to miss out?
